The Caged Wet wall sconce by Buster + Punch is a cage of matte black metal and glass, rated IP44, which protects the bulb while leaving it visible. It measures 48.8 cm high, 18 cm wide and 9.9 cm deep, takes 1 E27 bulb and comes in 4 finishes: brass, gray, steel, and black and orange.
An IP44-rated bathroom wall sconce
This bathroom wall sconce is rated IP44. This rating means that it is protected against water splashes coming from all directions. This is what sets it apart from the other wall sconces in the Caged range, which are reserved for dry rooms.
The brand specifies that this protection has its limits. A little moisture may sometimes enter the cage, then evaporate in a short time thanks to the drainage holes provided for this purpose. The light fixture therefore withstands water splashes, but nothing more.
Buster + Punch states that the wall sconce is suitable for bathrooms and damp locations, as well as for outdoor use. In a bathroom, the exact position depends on the electrical installation rules specific to wet rooms. Your electrician will tell you where the wall sconce can be installed.
Matte black metal cage, glass and cast metal panel
The structure of this cage wall sconce is made of matte black metal. It is enclosed by glass, which shows the bulb along the full height of the light fixture. The whole is fixed to a sand-cast metal back panel.
The lamp holder is made of solid metal. It features the cross knurling, known as Cross, and the wide-slot screws that the brand uses on its light fixtures. The wall sconce is made of stainless steel and glass.
It comes in 4 finishes: brass, gray, steel, and a two-color version, black and orange. The brass has a golden tone, the steel silvery reflections and the gray is dark. In all versions, the cage remains matte black.
Which E27 bulb for the Caged Wet wall sconce?
The wall sconce takes 1 LED E27 bulb of 5 W maximum, which is not included. Buster + Punch presents it with its Buster Bulb Tube, a tubular LED bulb sold separately. This elongated format echoes the vertical shape of the cage.
Behind the glass, the bulb remains visible, whether on or off. It is part of the design of the light fixture, just as the cage is. If you install 2 wall sconces on either side of a mirror, keep the same bulb on the 2 sides.
The wall sconce can be connected to a dimmer, provided you choose a dimmable bulb. The Buster Bulb Tube comes in a dimmable version and in a non-dimmable version. The dimmer is not included.
Where to install this IP44 wall sconce?
This IP44 wall sconce belongs first of all in the bathroom, for example on each side of a mirror. It also suits a powder room, a hallway or a stairwell. With a depth of 9.9 cm, it projects very little into the passageway.
Nothing prevents you from installing it in a dry room. In a living room, a dining room, a bedroom or a kitchen, this glass and metal wall sconce can be used alone or in a row, at regular intervals. For these rooms, the Caged range also includes other wall sconces, with a marble panel.
The light fixture is rated IP44: it is suitable for bathrooms and resists water splashes. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Check that the mounting method suits the type of wall you have. For maintenance, switch off the power, then wipe the metal with a soft, dry cloth and the glass with a damp cloth.
